Harvest 2026: La Scolca’s New Chapter Begins in the Vineyard
Harvest is one of the most emotional moments of the year at La Scolca. It is the time when months of waiting, care and work among the vines finally become grapes, aromas and new promises of wine.
With the beginning of Harvest 2026, our winery in the heart of the Gavi area is once again following the intense rhythm of the grape harvest. Every gesture, every bunch and every day in the vineyard reflects the deep connection between the family, the land and the tradition of Gavi DOCG.
The vintage began with a generally cold winter, including occasional snowfall that allowed the vines to enjoy a proper period of vegetative rest. Spring alternated between rainfall and sunny days, supporting a gradual and balanced return to the vegetative cycle.
Summer was warm but dry, with good ventilation and approximately 10°C of temperature variation between day and night. This diurnal range has been particularly valuable in preserving the freshness, balance and aromatic development of the Cortese grapes, the signature variety of the Gavi territory.
In the days leading up to the harvest, temperatures gradually decreased and moderate rainfall helped refresh the air and the vineyards, bringing the grapes towards picking in highly promising conditions. The first analytical results are very satisfactory and allow us to approach Harvest 2026 with confidence and care.
We expect a vintage that will once again express the La Scolca stylistic signature: freshness, precision, mineral tension and the distinctive elegance created by the meeting of the Cortese grape and the Gavi terroir. The aromatic profile is particularly promising, with expectations of great finesse and balance.
Every harvest tells a new story, made of patience, intuition and choices. Our role is to listen carefully to what nature gives us and guide it with experience, sensitivity and respect, from the vineyard to the cellar and from the cellar to the glass.
